Meet Us

Jim Cummins

Jim is one of two original Co-Founders of Dirty Kanza 200. (Along with the late Joel Dyke.) Born and raised in Kansas, Jim has spent the bulk of his life living, working, and playing in the Flint Hills. Much of his formative teenage years were spent on the back of a Yamaha YZ. When he wasn’t racing in local motocross and hare scrambles events, he was exploring the backroads around his hometown of El Dorado. His love of racing also provided the opportunity to explore the world of race promoting. While a Junior in High School, he helped to organize the first-ever Kansas High School Motocross State Championship.

Jim’s early adult years brought marriage (to the love of his life, Susie) and parenthood (to two sons, Danny and Joe).  It also brought a 30-year career in manufacturing, the bulk of which was spent honing his skills as a Packaging Engineer.  This period also brought a transition from motorcycles to mountain bikes, which in turn, led to organizing and promoting various mountain bike events.  Then in 2006, inspired by some of the very early “gravel grinder” events, Jim was inspired to create Dirty Kanza 200.  And the rest, as they say, “Is history…”

LeLan Dains

LeLan is the Operations Manager for Dirty Kanza Promotions and is a native of Emporia, KS. After graduating from Emporia State University with a degree in Recreation Management, he spent much time traveling and working in various recreation fields. An avid cyclist for over a decade, LeLan has formerly worked as the Camp Director for Carmichael Training Systems, leading cycling excursions all over the world. When the opportunity arose to return to his hometown and bring his talents to the Dirty Kanza Promotions organization it was a dream come true! Beyond bringing life-changing adventure experiences to folks, LeLan spends every free moment with his amazing wife and daughter.

Kristi Mohn

Kristi is extremely proud of two things, her family (husband Tim, daughter Sydney, son Mason, and some pretty awesome parents, siblings, nieces and nephews) and her hometown of Emporia, KS. While her background is peppered with traveling, teaching, and selling real estate, she truly loves to help create opportunities for her family and for her hometown. Her commitment to Dirty Kanza Promotions comes from a strong desire to make life better, from the person on the bike, to the person supporting the cyclist, and for her community. In her spare time, you will find Kristi cheering her kids on at soccer games or out riding her Salsa Warbird. She does also sometimes stoke for the TandeMohnium duo on their Salsa Powderkeg.

Tim Mohn

Tim brings real soul to the DK Promotions team. He can handle just about anything thrown at him – from crafting handmade musette bags to writing and performing songs for videos. Tim is from Kansas, and, while he may not always agree with the political climate in our state, he does embrace the opportunities to make Kansas and Emporia a better place to call home. Most recently, he was owner of Flint Hills Music and brings 18+ years of retail and customer service experience. Tim is an avid cyclist, the powerful frontman and songwriter of The People’s Punk Band, a custom shirtmaker, and a devoted husband and father. He loves riding gravel and finding cool roads to show off to other cyclists.
